The rules for participation in the 8th edition of Festival RiR, which will take place in Allariz (Ourense) from August 30 to September 5, 2026, are as follows:
Short films submitted to the competition must have been produced after September 1, 2024.
Works presented as premieres will be positively valued. Films that are publicly accessible for viewing online will be penalized.
Different short films may be submitted (Fiction, Animation, or Documentary/Mockumentary) as long as the genre is Comedy, regardless of the theme.
The running time of each short film must not exceed 15 minutes, including credits.
The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2025, at 23:59 (CET). Registration must be completed via the platforms Festhome or Movibeta, filling in all required fields.
For any inquiries, please contact: contacto@festivalrir.com.
The entry form must clearly specify the legal representative of the work. The author and/or legal representative of the short film commits to submitting works whose images and music are original or, where applicable, for which they hold the necessary usage rights. Proof of such rights must be provided if requested by the organization.
All short films and audiovisual material submitted for competition and participation in Festival RiR must meet the following screening format:
.MOV or .MP4 (H264 codec), Resolution: 1920 × 1080.
Works selected for the official competition will receive private notification from Festival RiR in the weeks prior to the event. They will be informed before the public announcement and must keep this information confidential until the festival officially publishes it on its social media channels.
Selected works will be screened as part of the Festival RiR program.
The organization reserves the right to use up to 10% of the running time of each selected work for promotional purposes of the festival and the works themselves.
Winning works may be screened in full, after the festival, in a promotional circuit of Festival RiR events held in different Galician towns, with prior notice to the legal representative of the work.
A jury will be appointed and announced before the beginning of the festival. Its decision will be final and not subject to appeal.
For the Audience Awards, voting will take place via ballots distributed to attendees at each screening session. The winner will be the film with the highest arithmetic average score, calculated by dividing the total points obtained by the number of voters.
Awards may be declared void if the jury so decides. The jury may also grant any special mentions it deems appropriate.
The following awards are established:
a) Jury Awards:
Best Fiction Short Film: Trophy
Best Animated Short Film: Trophy
Best Documentary or Mockumentary Short Film: Trophy
Fundación Vicente Risco Award for Best Screenplay: Trophy
Best Direction Award: Trophy
Best Performance Award: Trophy
b) Audience Award:

During the festival, selected works will be screened a maximum of two times, unless the film receives an award, in which case it will be screened again during the Festival RiR Awards Ceremony session. The owners and/or representatives of the works submitted to Festival RiR exempt the festival from any payment or fees related to copyright management entities for the non-commercial public screening of the works, provided such screenings take place exclusively within the official dates of the event, in accordance with its free and cultural outreach nature.
Participation in this call implies full acceptance of these rules.
